A green accent wall defines trendy & timeless. I’ve been seeing deep shades of hunter green everywhere for the past couple of years, and its popularity only seems to be ramping up!

It’s safe to say this is one color that will never go out of style.

If you’re in the market for the perfect shade of hunter-green paint, I’ve found it: Sherwin Williams Hunt Club would look stunning in any space!

It’s an excellent choice for an accent wall because it brings a classy touch of color and has great color-coordination potential!

As a color, green symbolizes luck and the natural world; painting a dark green accent wall can bring these symbols to life!

Hunt Club by Sherwin Williams can look natural & boho, glamorous & vintage, or chic & modern; it all depends on how you dress it up!

Benefits of an accent wall

So why should you try out an accent wall in your home?

  • Incorporates Color – Accent walls are an excellent way to incorporate a bold color into your space without overpowering a room.
  • Gives Focus – An accent wall is guaranteed to draw your eye and give your room a focal point!
  • Sets a Mood – Color has the power to totally transform a room. Use an accent wall to lift your room! Choose bright, clear shades for joy and energy or deep shades for comfort and relaxation.

Choosing an accent wall

When deciding where to place your accent wall, I recommend one of two options:

  1. Choose the wall that is opposite you when you enter the room. This wall is a natural focal point and will only accentuate it!
  2. Choose a wall that features the main piece of furniture. For example, a bed in a bedroom or a fireplace in a living room. This brings attention to the main attraction of the room and is a good choice for open-concept spaces with more than one entry point.

Coordinating wall colors

A deep, hunter green is an excellent accent wall color because of its versatility. It is similar to navy blue in that while it is a color, it can also pass as a neutral, depending on its use.

Because of its versatility, your green accent wall can look wonderful when paired with a variety of other colors. Hunt Club by Sherwin Williams has a few recommended coordinating colors:

  • Divine White will give a hunter green accent wall a fresh, high-contrast feel. Your room will look super bright despite this deep shade of green.
  • Latte is the natural approach. This orange-brown is a beautiful neutral to offset a green accent wall.
  • Green Trance is a sweet, pastel green that will look calming and earthy when paired with a deeper green.

Coordinating decor for a green accent wall

If you’re a little scared of color, you may have questions about coordinating furniture and other decor. These are a few fabulous color options when it comes to dressing up your new accent wall!

Go neutral

Choose neutral colors to let your green wall be the main character!

  • Deep Brown and hunter green create a luxurious, moody affair. Its low-contrast match could be best described as scholarly.
  • Black and dark green make another low-contrast pairing. This option looks slightly more contemporary and has a seamless appeal.
  • Beige with green appeals directly to the natural world. These combinations can look woodsy and tranquil.
  • Wood is a natural pairing with any green accent wall. Opt for beautiful oak features for a charming, homey effect.
  • Wicker plays into the bohemian possibilities of a green accent wall.

Choose boldly

Bring back the fun with contrasting color choices. These options will offset your dark green accent wall in a big way without trying too hard.

  • Blush pink is a high-contrast choice that will look vibrant against hunter green. Pink is a natural contrast to green, meaning both colors will stand out without looking unharmonious. The combination is fun and feminine.
  • Marigold is bright and brave. Pairing it with dark green is an unexpected choice that looks so RIGHT!
  • Gold accents provide a luxe addition to a green accent wall. Whether you’re going for mid-century modern or art deco, gold is always the right choice.

Deciding on paint

Before choosing my perfect shade, I wanted to try it out to see how it would look in my space.

I purchased some tester paint for only $5; bringing home sample paint is a super affordable way to see if you like a color before committing. It’s not so easy to return a whole can of paint!

Once I bought my mini-test painting pots, I tested the colors on both sides of my chosen accent wall. This is important because lighting can differ slightly on either side of the room and affect how the colors look!

I also took pictures of the wall both in the morning and at night. I wanted to see how the color would look at different times of the day and if I’d still like it.

Spoiler alert – Hunt Club was a winner! I was off to the store to purchase my paint, for real, this time.

Making it work!

Since the price difference between paint cans was so minimal, I opted for the more expensive option (you can’t skimp on quality!).

I also chose the satin finish over the eggshell. A lot of people, including myself, prefer eggshell. But since the testing paint pots were in satin, and I loved the look, I opted to change things up.

I only got one can because the specialist there took my wall measurements and said that was all I needed.

Welp – she lied. I needed a second can.

No matter. With two cans of paint, we were finally in business! I hired someone out through Task Rabbit to complete the paint job.

Tip –  make sure to tape off the entire wall, including the edges. Paint can easily transfer onto the second wall!

The project was a major success! I love the way the green accent wall incorporates color into my home.
