We Went White
Hey friends happy Wednesday! We are halfway through the week. Friday basically feels like the weekend so really one more day and we’re there 🙂
Excited about today’s post. So if y’all remember we finally removed wallpaper from the master bedroom, and patched some holes including an entire closet. Then it was time to paint! If you been reading for a while you probably know that I had major paint dilemmas when I came to our bedroom (see this post here and here to explain the swatches all over the wall). But let’s start way, way back at my first photo of our master bedroom….it’s pretty awful-lace curtains, wall-mount swing light, dusty rose and all–NOT our design choices 😛 .
And then our swatched wall post- wall paper removal…better, but still not great. 😛
As you can see you obviously debating between several colors. My original plan was to paint the room gray. I bought a ton the swatches and everything I want to put on the wall turned out blue which is not what I wanted.
I started really thinking about what I wanted our master bedroom to be like. I looked over all of my Pinterest pins. And in the end I decided what I really wanted after a year and a half of the pink carpet and the pink ceiling and the pink Rose paper and the swatches on all the walls was a blank slate.
A clean, white, blank slate. So we painted the walls and ceilings white.
First the ceiling. I can’t tell you how good it felt to push that paint across that pink!! Yeah!!
Instantly the room looked taller and bigger…and less pink! 😛
Then the swatches. Then the walls. White and bright!
Anti-climatic? I don’t think so. I love how it turned out! At first it just looked like a tall, big, empty room. We just kept saying “wow this looks so big!!” And we’ve joked that we’re finally- after year and a half- at the place where most people are On the day they move in: bare wood floors, blank empty walls, white ceiling-a literal blank canvas. We love it! It was just the change we need it after all the chaos.
So here’s the before the during and the current. I won’t say after yet because there’s lots to do. (Excuse the mess- we’re all friends here, right? :))
Just because we have white walls, doesn’t mean that area was going to stay that way. I plan on adding a lot of color and texture through bedding, curtains, art, and fun furniture. It’s finally all coming together!! Piece by piece. Slowly. I don’t want to just bunch of random stuff on the walls and say there that looks fine for now. I want to take my time cultivate a space I love, an actual retreat. A place just for the two of us. So fun to watch her house become a home finally. So fun for it to start to feel personal, not just like a project. Really happy. 🙂 Now let the decorating frenzy begin!!
