Our Pink Master Bedroom

The title kind of gives the end result away, but when it came to deciding on a bedroom color I faced quite an internal dilemma. I had been drooling over the gorgeous blush-colored rooms I’d been watching on Pinterest for a while, but I wasn’t so sure how that would translate into my real life. I wanted a pink master bedroom really, really badly, but I wasn’t so sure how Scott would feel.

I pitched the idea of a gray bedroom to him, and quickly added, “or we could do pink!” as a joke-but-not-a-joke comment. He said he was fine with whatever color I wanted, pink, gray or anything in between. Score!

So I went with my gut and went pink! The hardest part was finding a subtle blush color that didn’t scream baby girl nursery. It took us several sample colors but finally we decided on Ralph Lauren’s Tea Rose. If it’s classy enough for Ralph, it’s classy enough for us, right? 🙂

As you can see, not only did we get rid of that weird pale yellow paint, we also replaced the old, dingy carpet to a dark wood. The whole room looks soooo much better! Here’s the before and after!

Ahh, much better right? We still have a ton of work to do in this room. We need bedside tables, some art, and I want to replace the ceiling fan with something different. Consider this “phase 1”.

Bed wise, I have always dreamed of having a canopy bed and when I found this dark-wooded stunner at Wier’s for only $350 I was sold. We finally upgraded to a king-sized bed and it has been so fab! Originally I wasn’t crazy about the dark color of the wood but I think it serves as a good, masculine anchor that helps tone down the feminine pink.  I’m toying around with some ideas for softening the dark wood, but for now I’m enjoying the giant bed! 🙂 We also got that bench at Wier’s. I really like the bench, but I don’t think it really fits with our bedroom, so we’ll probably move it.

These curtains were original to the house. I couldn’t decide if they were granny or great, but once we had the wall color finished I started liking them even more, so they’re staying for now!

So what do you guys think? Is my husband crazy, or brilliant for giving me a pink bedroom? I think he is just ranking up those husband points, right?

  1. You know when I saw those curtains with the yellow walls I thought “yuck I’m sure she changed those.” Then I looked at the pink walls and realized they good!! I think they are neat and I’m sure you couldnt’ find anything like them now. That’s awesome that your husband let you have a pink bedroom!

  2. I think your husband is brilliant! The pink is so light and lovely. I love the bed too. You’re right – it is a great contrast to the soft, feminine color.

  3. Love it! I have plans for pink kitchen walls, inspired by some pink and copper colored trinkets of my grandmas that I inherited. I love the bedroom concept too! ????????????????
