We all know that drinking water is really good for us, but let’s get real. If there’s a choice between water or wine, we’re reaching for that wine glass every time. So why do we need to learn how to drink more water? With all the beverage choices out there, water often gets shafted—but it’s pretty crucial to get plenty of water in your system…if you’re interested in having amaze-balls skin and high energy and losing weight that is.
Or, just staying alive. Either/or.
Don’t worry, girl. I used to be a water-hater too but have seen the light and I find myself chugging more water than ever before with pretty minimum effort on my part. Here are the easy tools I use to keep hydrated.

Buy a pretty bottle
I don’t have the scientific data to prove it, but I’m approximately 99% sure that water tastes about 99% better coming out of a cute water bottle instead of a cheap-o plastic water bottle. Plus, it’s much better for the environment so you get altruism points too, woo hoo! These water bottles are the ones I deem worthy of being carried:
- “The Bottle” – BPA-free plastic + super cute branding!
- Amazing Grace – BPA + lead free glass
- Double-walled stainless steel in about 10000 cute colors
- Fruit infuser water bottle (in pink of course!)
Add some flavor
I love making infused waters so much that I have an entire Pinterest board devoted to it. My current favorite is pineapple/mint infused water. So. Yum.
I also use essential oils from Young Living to give my water flavor—I rotate between Citrus Fresh and Grapefruit oil. Warning—DO NOT try this with any oil—it has to be 100% therapeutic grade and the label needs to say it’s safe to consume. You also need to only drink water with essential oils in glass or stainless steel bottles.
Ice, ice baby
Ice-cold water is so much easier for me to drink that lukewarm water. This is a personal preference, so play around with different temperatures and see what you like best.
There’s an app for that
I’m pretty minimalistic about my apps, but I really like having an app on my phone that reminds me to drink water. You could set it up on your own by having a repeating alarm, but apps are much more fun! My favorite two are Plant Nanny and WaterMinder.
Make happy hour happier
