This post is written in partnership with Belgard, proud sponsor of the HGTV® Dream Home 2020. All opinions and photos are my own. 🙂
For years, I have watched the HGTV ® Dream Home specials on television, and dreamed about what it would be like to walk through one in person (or, even better…own one!). You can imagine how thrilled I was to be able to go tour the HGTV Dream Home 2019 last year with my friends from Belgard, and then again when I got the invite to join them yet again for the HGTV Dream Home 2020 tour in Hilton Head!
This was a totally different experience from my time in Whitefish, Montana last year for two main reasons. One, we were at the beach instead of a snowy area.
Secondly, I traveled completely by myself this year. Last year, Scott came with and we had a blast, but he had way too much on his own plate work-wise, so I came alone.
Guess what?
I had a blast! It was my first time doing several days of solo travel, but the Belgard team kept us busy in all the best ways. The star of the show, of course, was getting to see the HGTV Dream Home 2020!
HGTV Dream Home 2020 in Hilton Head, SC
It was my first time at Hilton Head, and I could see immediately why people are always raving about it! This island is incredibly picturesque and the entire thing feels somehow like a resort. There are bike paths everywhere, along with beautiful ocean views.
The incredible design team at the HGTV Dream Home 2020 did a fantastic job really capturing that beachy, low country vibe. It all started with the perfect plot of land—ocean-side backyard, anyone?
Because the backyard was so incredible, outdoor living was a huge theme with this year’s HGTV Dream Home. Just like within a home, the outside was divided into sections like the outdoor kitchen, dining room, and living room.
Of course, the firepit was a fun bonus that definitely got used for a s’more or two!
The pool is the perfect spot to hang out and watch the view. The pretty gray Belgard pavers used for the pool surround made the space look sleek and modern.
I particularly loved this feature! As most of you know, the look of pavers and grass are very in right now. However, the maintenance and upkeep of mowing/trimming the grass gets frustrating quickly.
Belgard brilliantly solved this problem by creating pre-cut patterned turf that are made to fit with these pavers! So, no more maintenance. 🙂
Let’s talk about serious outdoor entertaining goals too, shall we? I could definitely see hundreds of hours of quality time with family and friends out here, eating, swimming, grilling, roasting marshmallows and lounging.
Beachy Interior Design
The inside of the home was beautiful too, of course. The HGTV Dream Home 2020 has a distinctly beachy vibe—and how could it not? I particularly love this pretty master bedroom with gorgeous ceiling to floor coral curtains. That rattan bed is serious goals too!
The living room had an abundance of accessories that gave nod to the beach, and to Hilton Head itself. Local maps and found pieces like driftwood and seashells made this home feel so personal.
I was also fairly obsessed with all the other incredible accessories throughout the home. Like this trio of oyster and shell mirrors! I may have to DIY a set for my own!
