Swap it Like it’s Hot Number 5!
I’m so pumped for today’s post because it’s time for Swap it Like it’s Hot! My friend Charlotte from Ciburbanity organizes a bunch of us bloggers to go thrifting and mail one another items. Everyone transforms their items into something awesome, which is (of course!) my favorite part.
Emily from Two Purple Couches sent me a package with three items in it. The rules are we can use all the items, or just one. I ended up making over one, repurposing the second and still am completely stumped about the third! Here’s what I received:
So, in case you are curious I’ll give you the spoiler alert now. I can not figure out what to do with that wooden thing. It’s hinged and opens up like this:
I thought of trying to put candles or lip glosses into those little holes (doesn’t fit), gluing faux plants to them, hanging it sideways as a tie organizer, but in the end, I thought I’d just set that one aside and play with the other two. If anyone knows what it’s made for, please let me know…so curious!
The metal item is a candle holder I believe. I think you put glass votives into the three circular holders. I was a little stumped on this one too, but then I remembered an old trick—turn it upside down. And it clicked! I decided to make a Spring-themed fabric mobile.
I simply pulled my favorite Spring-y fabrics from my stash, and then ripped them into sections about 1-2″ wide.
I then tied them onto the metal circles.
Tada! It’s simple, but really pretty. I think I’ll hang this up by the feet (now top!) in a corner somewhere for a little extra happy color this season.
As far as the white dish went- I love milk glass and have a few pieces already. I thought it would be the perfect addition to my cocktail party arsenal kit—don’t those nuts look perfect in there? 🙂
Speaking of all things Spring, check out my Spring home tour!
Now head over to Shanna at Restoration Redoux and see what I sent her and the fab project she came up with! 🙂

I love the mobile! How fun is that!? I have no idea what that wooden thing is either, but when I saw it, I knew I had to get it!
Emily, I would have been stumped on what to do with those items but you did a great job. That mobile is just so cute.

You have such a knack for seeing things with crafty eyes!
So smart and pretty to make the mobile. Those fabrics are beautiful. I haven’t a clue what the wood thing is :/
so pretty- love the soft colors!
So whimsical and lovely. Great job
So whimsical and pretty. It would look great in a little girl’s room.
Love it! And don’t we all need a cocktail party arsenal kit?!? Of course!
What a genius idea for the candle holder, so imaginative! I’m sure it’s a beautiful spring accent in your home. Love milk glass too! and I’m sure that wood item would have stumped me too. I’ll look forward to seeing what you decide to do with that one! 🙂
This is so pretty and spring-y looking!!!!
What the HECK is that wooden thing?! Great job! I love the milk glass, too and I’m so glad you left it…and that you have a party arsenal! Blogger gathering at your house! 🙂
Pretty! Your spring tour is gorgeous as well!
I don’t blame you on the milk glass… I loved that little dish. I also have a strong love for smoked almonds so it looks great to me. 😉 The candle holder revamp is adorable. Thanks for joining the fun! xx
