Our Latest Flip House – Before Pictures
The day before Scott and I had our first date, he bought a house. On our date he told me how he had a dream of investing in real estate and flipping properties. So I guess you could say, in a way, that house was a big part of the beginning of our courtship—lots of conversations about flipping houses and designing and daydreaming together!
At the end of our 13-hour long second date (ha!), he showed me the house. We sat on the floor in the empty living room (the carpet didn’t look quite so scary then) and Scott proudly pointed out the new tile he had installed the day before. We laughed and vision-casted for what we were sure would one day become a real estate empire.
So prophetic, right? 🙂
Okay, so we are still building our empire. But the house Scott bought way back when has become our most recent flip property. For years (seven of them!) we rented it out with fairly good success (and one semi-traumatic eviction). With the real estate market explosion in Dallas, we decided it was now or never—time to flip and sell the property this year. So, meet Colonial, our flip house number three!
We’ve got lots of plans for this one. There are a bunch of behind-the-scenes stuff that has to be done like foundation work and plumbing. But then, the fun part! 🙂
The kitchen is tiny, so I’m implementing a plan to add a bit more cabinet and counter space. We are also re-painting the entire house—after being a rental so many years it needs it.
And, just for funsies, we have videoed and documented the entire process. And it definitely has gotten dramatic (and traumatic!) a few times. 🙂 I can’t wait to share!
Here are a few more rooms- as you can see the kitchen backs up to a converted garage.
The master bedroom. It doesn’t look quite as grand as we remembered. 🙂
The house has 3 bedrooms total. See that nice wall drawing that was left for us? 🙂 It says, “everything has beauty, but not everyone can see it”. I kind of feel like that should be our house flipping motto. Insightful! 🙂
And, I saved the best (scariest) for last. The backyard. Yikes.
It’s gonna be a fun journey, let’s get this party going! 🙂 By the way, we have a few other flips under our belts, check them out:

Well I didn’t think it looked too bad until I saw that backyard :o( I can’t wait to see how you transform this place!

The house isn’t so bad, but the yard is a scary place! By the way, the kitchen is bigger than what I have now!! I would love to have that much room! 🙂
Looks like you two have a great deal of vision and energy! Look forward to seeing the end product! Blessings, Janet
