Friendsgiving 2015
November is a busy month for Scott and I. Between both of our birthdays, vacation and Thanksgiving, the month seems like a blur. This year we intentionally set aside an evening months in advance to make sure we had a chance to celebrate with our friends—a Friendsgiving if you will!
Friendsgiving is Thanksgiving with friends. We certainly didn’t come up with the concept—I’ve been to a few and seen several on blogs I read, but this was our first time to host one of our own. We kept it pretty intimate this year and were able to fit nine of us around our dining table.
To keep it low-stress as hosts, we asked each guest to bring a side dish. It was a fun opportunity for everyone to practice their Thanksgiving dishes and a great excuse to eat and drink it all. 🙂
As party favors, we made everyone notebooks to encourage our friends to keep gratitude journals. We believe thankfulness should be celebrated all year long!
And, because it’s my birthday next week (and was Scott’s last week!) our friends spoiled us with an impromptu chorus of “Happy Birthday” and an especially cool surprise for me—my new favorite board game, Marrying Mr. Darcy. I even got to be Elizabeth! And…I did get to marry Mr. Darcy. Winning! 🙂
Have you all ever thrown a Friendsgiving? I can’t wait to do it again next year! 🙂

Your dining room is beautiful. I love the rustic table and bench and the giant mirror! I really love the idea of creating gratitude journals for your friends. I’ll check to see if you have a tutorial on that on your blog. I also love the peacock candle holders— they modernize Thanksgiving.
