Fall Home Tour

graphicHi guys! I’m excited to be a part of the Blogger Stylin’ Fall Home Tour put together by the fabulous Lindsay from the White Buffalo Styling Co today! If you are coming from Michelle over at Iron & Twine, welcome! If you guys haven’t seen her tour yet do yourself a huge favor and check her blog out! I’ve been a reader of hers for awhile now and she has the most fab style!

To be honest, since my husband and I (and our two mini aussies!) have moved into our house over two years ago, we’ve been crazy-busy remodeling (check out our before and after photos here). So, this was our first time in three years to actually get to decorate for fall.

I had so. much. fun.

So—without further ado, let’s start the tour! Welcome to our home!

We’ve been on a kick working on our front porch lately. Two of my favorite recent projects are our painted concrete rug and the wood shutters we built. For our fall decor I decided to keep it pretty simple with mums and hay. I even managed to track down some pumpkins!

Isn’t this wreath fun? It was so easy to make—just stick some silk flowers into a twisted branch wreath! I think it cost less than $10 and less than 5 minutes to make. 🙂

The first room you see when you come inside is our dining room. This is probably one of the most-used rooms in our house—we love to entertain and throw dinner parties. For a fall tablescape I kept our table fairly simple by using gold candles, an orange table runner and pears on simple white plates.

As you can see, we have a very open floor plan! 🙂

The built-in cabinet is the latest project we have worked on. We did it in partnership with The Home Depot (you can read how we built them on their site!) and have already used it multiple times over the past few weeks.

If you all are new around here, you will know that I am obsessed with Pride and Prejudice. I made this giant sign to show off my devotion—this is one of the very few pieces of art that hasn’t been taken down, moved around or rearranged over the past six months! I think it works for every single season…it’s always a good time for P&P!

Our kitchen is another fun spot. After spending the first six months living in our house with no kitchen I will never take a working kitchen for granted again! I think my favorite part is the countertops—we made them ourselves with concrete.

And here’s the living room. Come on in and have a seat! 🙂 To me fall embodies lying on a couch under a cozy throw with a pile of books nearby. And candles, of course!

I think out of everything I got to do to get our house ready for fall, my favorite was this mantle. I never, ever get tired of decorating my mantle.

Lastly, I wanted to share our backyard with you all. With the cooler temps, we can spend more time out here which is nice because I love these benches (they convert into tables as well!) and the swinging outdoor bed we built. You can often find me out here with a book and a drink.

It’s a bit early for it, so come back and see in November, but all these leaves will be on the ground. And I will gladly pay someone to rake them for me. 🙂

Thank you all so much for stopping by! Next up on the tour is the fabulous Sarah from The Thriftress! You guys will love her amazing style—hop on over and check her gorgeous home out.

  1. You’re making me really miss my 1950’s ranch in Dallas!! It was very similar! One of my favorite projects we completed on it was painting the mantle just like yours …and I adore the way you styled it. So glad to have found you through BSHT!

  2. nice house but the wall with the piano and card catalog is way too cluttered. you either need to both so they are more centered and not right next to each other OR you need to move the card catalog. doesn’t look good there, too cramped for space.

  3. Wow. This is fabulous. I am so impressed! How long did it take you to set everything up so beautifully? And how did you learn how to do all of that? Again…fabulous.
