Michaels New Spring Craft Line
If you’ve been a reader around here for any amount of time, you know I LOVE arts and crafts. I’m constantly coming up with new ideas and plans and having to “run to the store for just one thing” and coming home with a bag full of stuff and a head full of ideas. So when Michaels invited me to attend the opening of their new store and get a sneak-peek of their new spring product line I couldn’t reply “YES!!” fast enough. I went last night and I am so excited to share EVERYTHING with you guys today!
The event was in Southlake which is where I went to high school. My parents moved out of that house a few months ago, so it was weird going there without stopping by to say hello. The newly designed store has a really neat layout with wider aisles, tall signage so you can find what you are looking for easily and lots of fun products of course!
Michaels was kind enough to host a group of bloggers and treat us to some delicious snacks and this adorable DIY Italian soda bar. It was my first Italian soda and it was sooo good!
As part of the event we got to craft with their new product line which was so fun. The line is called Make Market and is a store-within-a-store concept. The company handpicked what they are predicting the newest crafting trends to be and created an entire line of gorgeous products. The biggest trends? Denim, galvanized metals, marquee signs and chalkboards. Everything is grouped nicely together and products range from supplies for DIY projects to already completed home decor items.
The custom framing department also got some cool upgrades—there’s now a cool tool they have where you can bring your art in and they use an arial camera to take a photo of your art and show you on a computer screen what all the various matting and frames will look like.
And there’s a ton of other new products! The yarn department is huge and has all kinds of cool exclusive brands. I’m going to buy yarn now. Just for fun. Along with jewelry-making supplies, more glitter and pretty much everything else in the store. 😛
Here’s a few more screenshots of the store.
The Southlake store is located at 1051 E. Southlake Blvd. in the Southlake Park Village Shopping Center. The store opens to the public on Sunday, February 8th. They are going to have all kinds of awesome activities and giveaways—If you are a local, head over and check it out, load up your cart with goodies and tell them I said hi! The grand opening celebrations begin with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a performance by the Carrol Dragon Cheer Squad at 9:45 a.m., followed by hourly prize giveaways and a DJ from 3-5p.m. Get there early – the first 100 in line receive mystery gift cards of $10-$100! See you guys there! 🙂

This looks like so. much. fun!!!! And, yes, I absolutely love italian soda, now I have a craving for some 😉 What a fun night though crafting in a whole store of crafts! And that new aerial image tool for framing is a great tip, definitely going to be going there for my framing now.
I am foreseeing a lot of italian sodas in my future…maybe I need to take a trip to Italy? 😛
Leaved in Southlake for over 17 years; and never seen this Michaels’ store looking so nice and clean. But above all we really enjoyed reading your blog as always and the photography is absolutely gorgeous. Well done. Can’t wait till we visit Michaels soon.
It looks really lovely…I can’t wait to go shopping there! You should definitely make a trip back to Southlake and check it out. 🙂
How fun!!!! I literally just got back from the Michaels a mile down the street from me and they’re closing!!! I’m devastated. Now I’ll have to drive 15 mins to get to one (spoiled, I know).
Oh that’s sad!!! Why couldn’t they close the other one and leave the one by you alone? 😛
we share the same love for michaels! gah, walking in that store always fills me with about 100 creative/inspiring ideas. if we lived closer i would wanna make a standing michaels date for the two of us. excited to see what ya make!
