Rustic Christmas Decor Ideas You Can’t Live Without
These rustic Christmas decorations add just the right touch of at-home comfort to your home this season. Rustic Christmas decor coupled with cozy accessories makes your space feel just right for the holidays.
Every year I like to switch out my Christmas decor just a little. Some years I go a lot more extravagant, while other years I prefer to scale back quite a bit with the decorating efforts.
While I may change out elements here and there, rustic Christmas decorations always make the cut!
I often get questions from readers about my holiday decorations. So I thought today I would share my holiday cheer with a rustic flair to give you some inspiration of what you can do on a budget.
Rustic Christmas Decorations
While I absolutely love looking at modern, glitzy decor with fun pops of color, there is something about these simple pieces that draw me in time after time. To me, they add just the right touch of cozy comfort that the season is all about.
Everyone has a different idea of what rustic Christmas decorations actually entail. In my case, it means incorporating a lot of natural elements, such as a realistically flocked tree, pine cones, garland, wreaths, and rustic prints throughout the house.

In particular, I was really longing for a simple, rustic Christmas tree this year. In fact, this entire Christmas season has been about delighting in the simple, pure joy of the Christmas season, rather than getting caught up in buying new things.
It’s been a really nice change from the hustle of our normal holiday season!
Here’s a quick walk-through of our decorations to get you into the holiday spirit.
Our Rustic Christmas Tree
I’ve gotten a lot of questions about the ornaments on my tree. The majority of them are from Target (surprised?), and I have links at the bottom of this post showing where you can find the exact or similar ones.
I use the gold color scheme to add a bit of glitz and glamour. And of course, a farmhouse Christmas tree wouldn’t be rustic without white lights!
Instead of an eye-catching red ribbon around the tree, this year I used a slightly more subtle red bead garland that reminds me of cranberries.
I love the gold frosted pine cones combined with regular pinecones for that touch of holiday magic to your rustic Christmas decorations.
Our Farmhouse Mantel And Fireplace
Our fireplace also was simple this year with plenty of DIY projects highlighted like our easy cone trees and snow globe projects.
I considered adding some clear lights around the mantel but wanted to just keep it really simple this year. (although I DO like the soft glow that clear lights add!!)
I’m a sucker for Christmas trees with faux snow! This red truck is a must for the holiday season for me. Perfect decor for a rustic Christmas.
It just makes me want to pull out the hot cocoa and sit by a crackling fire at night. Don’t forget to add a dash of Peppermint Vodka (if you want an adults-only drink).
Seeing how the light shines on the snow globes makes me think that adding a candle or two would be a nice touch. Isn’t everything better with candles?
Of course, we can’t leave out all the glorious pillows. Pillows are synonymous with rustic Christmas decor, aren’t they?
I fully embrace rustic Christmas decor in the form of pillows! Can you tell? 😉
Rustic Christmas Wreaths
I kept the entryway of our house simple with a wreath to add some greenery and a bell tied to the front door. I love bringing a touch of winter inside the house with things like evergreen decorations, twigs, garlands, etc.
How did that mistletoe get hung up there? 😉 I love the touch of green it adds to the entry and always makes a nice conversation piece when we have a holiday party!
I also decked out our library. I truly feel like our piano is a piece of furniture that’s perfect for every season! And of course, I had to include a Christmas tree with a burlap ball at the bottom.
FAQs About Rustic Christmas Decor
Here are a couple of questions I frequently see from readers. If you have a question and don’t see it down below, please leave it in the comments so I can answer it!
Yes! Pine cones bring in that touch of nature. I love to use them in a variety of ways: natural, gold-covered, and even frosted with faux snow for that touch of winter. And they always look amazing as ornaments.
Good question! I don’t have one, which is why you don’t see any pictures of mine. When you decorate an entry table, try taking a similar approach to decorating a mantel.
I think you could add several different ideas to make the holiday season sweet in your entryway! Here are a few for inspiration:
Star shape
A woven basket of pinecones or ornaments
Burlap elements
A mini tree
A wood element or two
Candles (use led versions if you have kids)
Garland
Some greenery
Homemade crafts your kids made
