I’m SO excited to share this video with you all! Scott and I made the cutest little easy Christmas treats for kids —3 different kinds, actually. We were like two giant kiddos in a candy store (literally) running around and trying not to slip in the mounds of powdered sugar that overtook our house when a ceiling fan got a little too crazy.
The chocolate mice are especially fun to me—I remember making these with my parents on Christmas Eve when I was a kid. They’ve been a family favorite for us for a looooong time—now they can be one of yours! 🙂
The marshmallow elves and snowmen are new treats we came up with this year. Spoiler alert—they are delicious and so cute. I know the title says “easy Christmas treats for kids” but the word kid is very loosely defined for us. So, whether you’re 1 or 92, I think you deserve a marshmallow elf. 😉
Easy Christmas Treats For Kids That Are Fun to Make
We put together a really fun video that shows you how to make them. It’s really short and you’ll be able to get an idea of how to do it.
3 Easy Christmas Treats for Kids
Isn’t that video so cute? I’ll share the details from the video right here in the post too. That way you can choose whether you follow along with the video or read the post. Enjoy!

#1 Chocolate Mice
These little mice are so easy to make that anyone can make them. They go along with the “Night Before Christmas” poem. Not a creature was stirring not even a mouse.
The cherry stems end up looking like the little tails. And the best part is that there are only 5 ingredients in this little craft.
Supplies/Ingredients Needed:
- Chocolate Chips
- Chocolate Kisses
- Whole Maraschino cherries with stems
- Sliced almonds
- Red gel frosting
Instructions:
- Melt the chocolate chips.
- Unwrap the chocolate kisses.
- Dip the cherries into the melted chocolate so they are completely covered.
- Attach the bottom of the chocolate kiss candy to the chocolate-covered cherry.
- Repeat these steps until all the cherries are used.
- Add almond slivers in between the cherries and the chocolate kisses, to look like mouse ears.
- Pipe red gel frosting on the chocolate kisses to look like eyes and a dot for the nose.
#2 Marshmallow Elves
Add some cute little elves to the chocolate-cherry mice. Who knew that sliced almonds could look like pointy elf ears? It’s the cutest idea. If you want to add a little pizazz to the elves, you can sprinkle some edible glitter on them.
Supplies/Ingredients:
Instructions:
- Dip the chocolate kiss candy into the melted chocolate.
- Attach the kiss to the marshmallow so it looks like a little hat.
- Add sliced almonds as pointy ears next to the kiss candy by dipping them in chocolate and placing them next to the chocolate “hat.”
- Attach the candy eyes to the marshmallows
- Pipe red gel frosting on the marshmallow to look like a mouth.
#3 Sweet Snowmen
Finally, build a snowman inside, where it’s warm. And this little guy won’t melt at room temperature! The secret to this craft is the Wilton edible dab-n-hold adhesive. It’s safe to eat and keeps food stuck together.
If you don’t have any edible adhesive, you can also melt some frosting and dip each part of the snowman into it. You’ll have to give it longer for the frosting to dry, but it acts as an adhesive too.
This treat will need more adult supervision and help since you’ll have to slice Starburst candies for the snowman’s nose.
Supplies/Ingredients:
- Marshmallows – extra large and regular-sized
- Melting chocolate
- Chocolate Bell Candies
- Wilton edible dab-n-hold adhesive
- Candy eyes
- Starburst Candies
- Twizzler’s Pull-N-Peel
- Pretzel Sticks
- Mini chocolate chips
Instructions:
- Stick marshmallows together to look like a snowman using the edible adhesive (2 extra-large marshmallows on the bottom and a regular-sized one on top as the head).
- Dab more edible adhesive on top of the smallest marshmallow and stick a chocolate bell candy on to look like a brown hat.
- Stick candy eyes on the front of the marshmallow snowmen.
- Slice thin slivers of Starburst candies to look like a carrot nose.
- Attach the candy carrot nose to the snowmen.
- Deconstruct the Twizzler’s Pull-N-Peel.
- Tie one Pull-N-Peel thread around the snowman to look like a red scarf.
- Gently push pretzel sticks into the large marshmallows, one on each side, for the snowman arms.
- Attach mini chocolate chips on the front of the snowman to look like black buttons.
What Are Christmas Flavors?
The typical Christmas flavors are chocolate, peppermint, and marshmallow. And these treats use almost all of them. If you want to incorporate peppermint into the treats, use peppermint kisses or add some peppermint extract to the melted chocolate.
What To Do With Easy Christmas Treats for Kids
That’s it! Aren’t they cute? You’ll have so much fun making these edible treats with your kiddos.
After you make them, what do you do with them? Sure they are a lot of fun to eat. But beyond enjoying them as a snack, here are some more fun ways to use these treats.
DIY Decoration
For a day or two, you can leave them out on the kitchen counter as edible decor. Of course, if you leave them out, they will dry out and won’t be safe (or fun) to eat. But they are so cute that it’s worth it so you can see them every day.
Leave Them Out for Santa
Make these treats on Christmas Eve. Then, leave them out on a lovely tray with a note to Santa Clause from your children. Wouldn’t it be fun if Santa took them with him to the north pole to show Mrs. Clause? Imagine how excited your children would be knowing their treats disappeared!
Share With a Neighbor
Treats are meant to be shared. Make a few plates of these fun treats and share them with your neighbors or family members. Even better, add a hand-made card for an extra-thoughtful touch.
No matter what you decide to do with them, it’s just a ton of fun to make them together as a family!
