Trendspotting: Colorful Kitchen Cabinet Colors

Looking for fresh ideas for kitchen cabinet colors beyond basic white?

These days, interior designers seem to be experimenting with a variety of kitchen cabinet colors. Now, it’s acceptable to paint your cabinets any color from matte black to subtle blush to a bright poppy turquoise.

So what are the best kitchen cabinet colors? There’s a lot to choose from. Here’s a list of my favorite kitchen cabinet colors that will make your kitchen pop!

Estimated reading time: 12 minutes

Just a note: I love Benjamin Moore paints for their lovely colors and great quality, so all the colors mentioned in this post are from Benjamin Moore. This is not a sponsored post!

Black & Charcoal Kitchen Cabinet Colors

Black kitchen cabinet colors look refined and beautiful, and you can still let your creative streak shine.

Play around with finishes, from matte to eggshell to semi-gloss, or even high gloss for the glamorous and daring (fair warning, this finish shows fingerprints easily, so be prepared for frequent cleaning).

If you don’t want to go all-black, you can experiment with a two-toned kitchen cabinets color combination: black on bottom cabinets and white or gray on top.

Here are my picks for the best Benjamin Moore black kitchen cabinet paint colors.

Black

For the purist, this is about as basic a black color as you can get. Like a little black dress for your kitchen cabinets.

Onyx

This pure, dark black is absolutely stunning and makes any kitchen look high-end.

Wrought Iron

This perfect deep gray gives you all the benefits of pure black: sleek sophistication without the stark drama. Look how rich and gorgeous it looks with brass hardware!

Gray & Greige Kitchen Cabinet Colors

This is the “safest” color family on our list. Grays and greiges are some of the best cabinet shades, because you’ll still get the clean, timeless effect of white but with a little more depth and interest.

There are so many different ways to go gray and add to the personalization of your kitchen. You can go for a cool blue-gray in a lovely eggshell sheen or a creamy greige that leans towards blush for a romantic look.

Here are my picks for the best Benjamin Moore gray and greige kitchen cabinet paint.

Cheating Heart

A lovely, deep gray that’s one shade lighter than Wrought Iron.

Raccoon Fur

This dark gray looks deep navy in some lighting. It’s a popular choice in the interior design world for cabinets, built-ins, and walls.

Street Chic

This creamy, medium gray looks great as an upper cabinet pairing with black lowers, or on a kitchen island against white cabinets.

Coventry Gray

This lighter, warmer, creamier gray looks so inviting with an eggshell sheen.

Gibraltar Cliffs

This beautiful, cool gray has blueish undertones and looks lovely against white countertops and gold hardware.

Peau de Soie

I love this peachy greige; it looks almost blush but it will please the traditionalist in you.

Blue Kitchen Cabinet Colors

Blue is the perfect compromise between classic and adventurous. Go muted blue for a rich, sophisticated look, or a deep teal for an inviting, exotic feeling. No matter which blue shade you choose, I think you’ll be super happy with the results.

Here are my picks for the best Benjamin Moore blue kitchen cabinet paint colors.

Naples Blue

This stunning teal is gorgeous. Use it all over, or turn your kitchen island into a statement piece to contrast white or light gray cabinets.

Normandy

This muted, grayish blue is surprisingly neutral and can be paired with a lighter blue for a twist on a monochromatic look.

Florida Key’s Blue

Make all your tropical dreams come true with this fun, bright turquoise.

This deep, grayish navy will give your kitchen cabinets a moody, inky look.

New York State of Mind

This sapphire jewel tone manages to dazzle while still retaining a sophisticated look.

Green Kitchen Cabinet Colors

This might be my personal favorite color family for kitchen cabinets. Green is playful and timeless at the same time. You can choose a mint green for a retro 1950s kitchen, or a deep forest green for a high-fashion, rustic look.

Here are my picks for the best Benjamin Moore green kitchen cabinet paint colors.

Vintage Vogue

This muted forest green makes for a moody, rustic look.

Tea Light

I absolutely love the soft vintage look of this pale green.

Yellow Kitchen Cabinet Colors

While yellow kitchen cabinets might feel like a progressive idea at first glance, I think you’ll find that they actually give off a traditional, homey vibe. Think sunny, inviting, country kitchens.

Sweet Butter

This warm, buttery color will fill your kitchen with sunshine on a cloudy day, and put you in the mood for a baking spree.

A softer, more subtle take on country yellow.

I love how this vibrant purple looks on the kitchen island in this artsy, industrial loft.

This lilac kitchen island is so soft and sweet! For a similar look, try Benjamin Moore’s Hazy Lilac. It has just enough muted gray undertones to keep it understated.

Eggplant

I fell head over heels for this eggplant kitchen island look, which is a very unexpected color for me. Benjamin Moore’s Eggplant will give you a similar look.
