Faux Succulent Centerpiece DIY

This diy faux succulent and wood centerpiece is gorgeous for a wedding, party or spring decor!

It’s time for another super easy, really pretty DIY project that I promise anyone can do. Yes, you! It’s pretty and completely perfect for Spring with the bonus gift of never needing any watering. You’re welcome. 😉

This project is actually part of the monthly Create & Share hosted by my friend Stephanie from Casa Watkins. Create & Share is where a bunch of bloggers get the same item and each put their own spin on it. The item this month was graciously provided to us by Walnut Hallow—stop by their website and check out all their gorgeous wood items!

For my item, I got the Walnut Hallow Basswood Country Round. Isn’t it beautiful?

Initially my idea was to paint it and make a fun wall hanging, but I felt so inspired by the Spring season (see my house tour with proof here!), so I decided to go a different route and use one of my favorite decorating items—faux succulents.

I love the look of succulents, but if you have been around here for any amount of time you know that I have a super black thumb. 🙂 So faux succulents are my besties.

I purchased these guys at a local craft store and removed the stems off them. Most of them just pop off, but there are a few that I had to use wire cutters to cut down.

I arranged them until I found a formation I liked, then started to glue it down using a hot glue gun.

I kept layering and gluing, using these AMAZING hot glue gun finger caps. You definitely want these if you ever use hot glue. It burns so bad!

Hot glue is pretty powerful stuff. As you can see, I’m holding the wood round upside down and the succulents aren’t going anywhere. So, if you wanted to make this a wall hanging, you totally could!

I decided to use mine as a candle holder for our coffee table. I could totally see myself making a bunch of these and filling up a table as centerpieces—these would also be so cute for wedding decor!

Speaking of wedding decor, did you all know I used to photograph weddings? Ring and detail shots were always my favorites. I had to give my own ring a mini-photoshoot since it hasn’t had one in years. 😛
