What I Wore in Europe

Want to minimize what you pack on your trip? This is what I wore in Europe! I took a carry on ONLY and had enough outfits to last ten days. Totally doable!

Remember when I went on a ten day European adventure back in November? I was determined not to be bogged down by luggage and made a pact with Scott that I wouldn’t take more than one single carry on. TOTAL. Keep in mind that I took two suitcases and a carry on our last trip to Europe (just for me, eek)! The question remained though…what to wear? Here’s how I did it!

So first of all, keep in mind that I went to Italy (multiple cities), Paris and Barcelona—places I wanted to look fashionable-ish in. I already shared my tips for packing for ten days in Europe in this post here, but here’s how my outfits across the cities played out. By the way, I am a firm believer that a cute, pink suitcase will make your packing pains much easier. 😀

The biggest tip that helped me the most was to pack monochromatically. I am pretty color-obsessed, but 90% of the clothes I packed were black. I blended in great with all my European buddies! 🙂

Although we went at the end of November, the weather wasn’t bad at all! It was sunny and bright and warm enough for me to not wear a jacket. Which was great since I decided not to pack one (crazy, I know!).

I did carry on this thin cape with me onto the plane however. It served as a blanket on all my flights and offered me a bit more shelter when I needed it in Italy!

I bought these gloves in Rome. They’re cool, right? They were made by a Roman company and are really warm and super blingy! Win/win!

Let’s be real though. It was all about the view of the cities, not me. 🙂 Check out this view!

Lastly, I have to give a shout out to these boots. They were the only shoes I wore the entire trip and they were amazing! I picked them up at DSW for $50 and outfitted them with Dr. Scholls inserts. So comfy!

  1. I’m all for comfy boots that look cute & can take all that walking.
Black is the way to go … load up on colorful scarves & sweaters…
    Those gloves are adorable!!!
I need to know more about that cross bag you are carrying – I love a good cross body bag that is big but not TOO big … that one looks great.

  2. Adorns! You look so stylish!! I love all your outfits and the fact that you only had to haul around one suitcase – awesome. I am especially impressed that you just took one pair of shoes. That is definitely my downfall when packing light.

    1. Thank you so much! And yes, shoes are the hardest. I decided I could dress these up or down and they were comfy enough. I’m not sure I’d be so lucky in the summer though, boots are more comfy than flats I think?

  3. those boots are super cute! go you for doing the carry on only, it’s just a freeing feeling! it helps when your suitcase is that cute though 😉

  4. You’re never allowed to meet my husband. He packs like you do and I’ve convinced him it’s not humanly possible for a girl to do that. Kudos to you for pulling it off and looking chic at the same time.

  5. Wow, I’m super impressed – not only with your accomplishing just one carry on, but accomplishing such great style. You look fabulous in all these photos, and yes, those gloves are awesome! Visiting from Sundays at Home – you caught my attention among the links. Great job!

  6. Wow, what a great place to go. And yes you’re right you do blend in when wearing black. I live in Greece and half of the people wear black. Maybe it’s because we get blinded by the sun in the summertime. Whereas the Northern countries like color because they don’t have as much sun in the winter. Your outfits are fantastic!

  7. I love this! I’m a firm believer in packing light and packing in two main colors, usually black and gray. Like you said, you’ll blend in with all the Europeans. I have always traveled with only a carry on like yours (but mine wasn’t that cute pink!!), Next time I’m taking a school backpack. It’s amazing how quickly we get tired of dragging stuff around. Can’t wait to see more of the fabulous photos. When we went to England in March, I took a mere 3,000. Lol Great post. Love the blingy Roman gloves!

  8. What a fabulous trip! and great looks -How did you ever do that in one carry-on? It’s always extra tricky packing for different countries/cultures/climates in one trip too. I always vow next trip I’ll scale down but it doesn’t seem to happen- I think if I had that adorable suitcase it might help! I didn’t see but did you mention where did you got it?

    Cheers

  9. Ha, it’s a good thing you weren’t coming here to the UK in November, you would have definitely needed a jacket/raincoat/umbrella!!
That little suitcase for a 10 day trip is pretty impressive, I love your everything goes with each other approach (and your suitcase is just gorgeous!

  10. love this idea! i am a huge proponent of carry-on only! lately been practicing with just a backpack (definitely easy to do if traveling to a warmer destination!)
I love all your fabulous photos and the first one is so chic, it needs to be on a book cover.
    🙂
