Help Me Pick a Paint Color!
Remember when our master bedroom looked like this?
Welllllll…..it still does. Don’t judge me too harshly. We were busy remodeling a kitchen, dining room, bathroom, sunroom, living room, backyard and bathroom, mmmmmkay?!?!
We “affectionately” refer to the back half of the house as the “scary half”. We really only go in here to sleep, then wake up and run away into the nice, clean living room. Phew. Well friends…no longer. We finally ripped up the scary, scary, nasty, dirty dusty rose pink carpet and installed our pretty wood floors. YAY. Now we aren’t afraid to walk in our room. But there are still all these paint swatches on the wall…in fact they are the same swatches on all four walls.
We call these the walls of shame. They give me shame & vexation. Here’s the deal…originally I wanted gray. Just simple, pretty gray. I started putting a few swatches up. A majority of them turned BLUE. What?! Why?!
We decided we weren’t super fans of any of these colors, but we are wavering as to what to do. For the first time in our remodel process, I’m absolutely stuck. I’m being torn in a million ways. Part of me (maybe the slight majority) wants to paint the walls white. Like a crisp, beautiful, spa, clean bright white like so:

Then the other part of me wants to do a darker, dramatic room. There’s something about the darker rooms that seem cozy in a way, and also very pretty.

So what do you all think? Dark and dreamy? White and bright? I love the idea of having white bedding and bright curtains and lots of art but I’m really at a loss as to a color. Our ceiling is currently dusty rose and will be painting it either a light blue (if we go with white walls) or a bright white (if we go with gray). We are wanting to paint this weekend so please comment & help! 🙂
Happy Friday friends!

Ok I love the dark too, but those light bedrooms are GORGEOUS!!!
That’s a tough choice! I guess it really depends on how much natural light you get in that room. I’ve been on a white wall kick lately though – bright white with lots of house plants and pops of color but also love love moody grays. Looking forward to seeing your decision!
i am actually really digging the white after seeing those pictures too!!! but the white curtains with dark gray is real elegant too.
That happened to me when I was in high school! We moved to a new house and I wanted to paint my room gray. Well, the gray I picked turned out to be a blue, so my room was blue – LAME.
Anyways, I always think the bright white looks the best. The other pictures are pretty, too, but I think they had extra lighting for the photo’s effect and doubt that the rooms would be that bright in real life. Happy painting, I’m sure whatever you choose will be lovely 🙂
white and bright wins every time – so peaceful and calming 🙂
Wonderful post but I was wondering if you could write a litte more on this topic?
I’d be very grateful if you could elaborate a little bit more.
Bless you!
