Floor Plan Before and After

We have made some pretty major structural/decorational (real word!??) changes to Gray Gables since we moved in, but I realized I haven’t shared a complete floor plan with you all- so here it is! We are basically reworking the entire plan of our house…by the time it’s all said and done only ONE room (the sun room) won’t have any structural changes to it.  Crazy, I know.  I’m an addict. 🙂

Here’s the floor plan for how the house was when we moved in.  As you can see it was pretty choppy and the master bathroom had a really weird layout that I hated.

Here is the reworked version for our new plan (yay!):

Main changes include:
-removing the wall between the living room and dining room (done!)
-removing the wall between the living room and kitchen (done!)
-creating a feature wall with a built in nook in the dining room/a wall to separate the butler’s pantry (done!)
-the jack and jill bath turning into a hall bath with a bath/shower rather than a tiny shower stall
-the master bedroom moving to the back of the house & absorbing the coat closet (future dreams here include walk out patio doors into our backyard, because I love the backyard so much- it’s amazing!)
-the master bath moving into what is our current master bedroom and updating our fixtures to something slim like the toto cst744s drake toilet.
-the entry way hall and the current master bathroom/closets  becoming bedroom #2
-creating a new bedroom closet and hall closet in bedroom # 3 (since we are stealing the current closet in there now to put a tub in)

It seems like a lot but it’s encouraging to know we are more than half way done.  By tackling these projects one at a time it seems a lot less daunting then the kitchen/dining/living room was.  Besides, we can always sleep in the living room or something – we didn’t really have a back up kitchen (besides the bathroom).  Also, the colors on the bedrooms aren’t set in stone- still playing around with ideas and color schemes. You can view these floor plans at any time – they have been added to the menu under the header- yay!

In fact, we’ve already started working on the next project.  Here’s a peek!

Yes, at one point that was our jack and jill bathroom.  RIP.  You served us well even if you were horribly ugly and embarrassing.  😛
