Color Crush: Gold Accents

One of the reasons why I was determined to keep our wall colors as nutreal as possible was because I am a fickle gal.  I’ll fall in and out of infatuation with certain colors, patterns, textures and metals, and I want the ability to add or detract those from our home quickly.  This involves a lot of selling items, spray painting, sewing and DIY- but that’s all okay with me.

Lately I am really, really into gold.   As a kid I hated gold.  Absolutely hated it. I thought it was the worst color that only old people wore or liked- I refused to wear gold jewlery even, up until my 2os (true story).  Well now, I can’t get enough of it lately- leading to projects like this and this.  I am definitely currently crushing on gold house accents.

Here are some of my favorite inspirational interiors featuring- you guessed it- gold- and some ways you can add this fabulous color in ranging from tame to BOLD!! 🙂

1) Furniture.  Adding a peice or two of furniture can really glam up an entire space.  I would recommend sticking with antiqued gold rather then new and shiny- but  hey, that’s just me! 🙂

2) Frames.  Whether you have a muted wall color or a bold one, added gold frames can make a statement! Add one large one for or multiple smaller ones.  I also love gold framed mirrors! Have a bunch of old frames you want to give new life? Remove the glass and spray paint them different shades of gold, put the glass back in and make magic happen baby! 🙂

3) Wall coverings.  Whether you are into wallpaper or a more non-commital wall art, gold on your walls will make your rooms seem more luxe and brighter.  Again- commitment level is up to you!

What do you all think? Have I made believers out of you yet? What room will you be converting into a golden shrine? 😉 I have a fun project in mind…of course! 🙂

  1. Well if you’re interested I dropped by via Pinterest because I’m designing a tiny house for myself and wanted the kitchenette to have bespoke brass cabinets(they’re going to be different angles so the reflections should be interesting) with OSB covered in gold leaf for the splashback.
