Four Years (One Year) Ago We…

Today is pretty much the best day ever! 🙂

Four years ago today I became a MRS officially! Yes, it is our four year anniversary.  Everyone always said it would fly by…and they are right. I still feel like a brushing bride around my husband- I giggle and turn red around him quite a bit. 🙂

A lot of people we admired told us it would be a good idea to have a marriage mission statement.  You know, something that you use as the bedrock and foundation for your relationship.  Ours is pretty cool and still holds true today- are you ready to hear it?

Newlyweds for Life. <3

Yes, it’s that simple.  It was our goal to continue to treat each other with the same respect, awe and love forever and ever, not just for the first year or two.  We have done a GREAT job sticking to this- every morning and every evening we tell each other “I love you” and really mean it.  We keep it classy around each other- I act like a lady and he treats me as a gentleman should.  I am constantly looking for ways to verbally affirm my husband and honor him, and he has done such an incredible job of leading and loving me.

I have so many great memories with my husband, and he has been such a great sport over the last four years of marriage.  I know you all have seen him tackle a MILLION DIY projects with me, but there is so much more!  We have had adventures in airports, buses, and hanging out with statues:

He has been my biggest support and cheerleader, and my partner in (love) crime:

He has been a great sport and done posed photos and made every party I’ve been to that much more fun…and he’s brought me more flowers than I can count:

He doesn’t even mind when another boy kisses me right in front of him 😛

And, if our anniversary wasn’t enough to celebrate, there’s another celebration going on today. One year ago today we moved into Gray Gables and started the craziest adventure of our lives to-date.  We hadn’t planned to move in on our three year anniversary, but our closing had gotten pushed back to August 6th and the tenants who were renting from us were moving in August 7th, so we had no choice.  We spent our three year anniversary with both our families (God bless them all- we couldn’t have done it without them!!) moving boxes, scrubbing floors and eating take out Thai food in a dirty, wood paneled room that we proceeded to completely rip apart the very next day

So here it is- one year later.  We have moved 3 load baring walls, rewired electric, whitewashed a fireplace (and installed a floating mantle), built concrete countertops, changed the entire floor plan of our houseadded a butler’s pantry, installed a swinging bed, painted a chevron wall (and a million other things!) and so much more.  I am pretty impressed with us- and super excited for the next year to come! Our bathroom remodel is oh so close to being done, which will allow us to finally get to work on the back half of the house including all the bedrooms and the master bath.

Happy anniversary Gray Gables and Scott.  You both have kept me protected, content and very, very busy. 🙂 Here’s to year two/five!!! The best is yet to come! 🙂
