The Best of August
Oh, August, you were so good to me! There was so much that happened this month and so many fun updates and projects I got to work on. I thought it would be fun to take a look back at some of the highlights from this month. Ready?
House projects:
-I debuted my favorite room in the house—the dining room! From the custom table to the light fixtures, I literally wouldn’t change a thing.
-I shared a huge secret with you guys—we had a secret flip house project that we flipped in under a month and sold on the first day. Still can’t believe it!
-If that wasn’t enough before and after house action for you, I also shared crazy before and after pictures from the house we just moved from. It literally is a night and day difference. There’s also a project reference list included to show what we did to make the changes in each room.
–We painted our bedroom pink! It’s such a happy, joyful color that I love seeing every morning and every night.
-We gave our guest bathroom a white and bright makeover for a fresh look.
-We had all the wood paneling taken down out of our living room and gave the walls a fresh coat of bright white paint. After debating it for hours, I gave in and decided to keep the wood trim instead of painting it white like I wanted…and I LOVE it. So glad Scott fought for it! 🙂
Arts & Crafts:
–I shared my scrapbook that I’ve been putting together with the photos I had printed after our trip to Europe.
-If you feel like doing a bit of shopping, I shared my favorite cute school supplies—for adults! Who says grownups can’t have fun too?
Travel:
We went to Asheville, NC for a five day getaway. We had a wonderful time hiking in the woods, exploring America’s largest estate and eating & drinking our way through the entire city. Read about it here and here.
Fun Other Things:
-I put together a fun round up of 10 free adorable patterned phone wallpapers. I keep switching them around because I can’t pick my favorite one!
-We had an awesome conversation together about how we cut cable tv. I shared my favorite alternatives, and got a lot of good ideas from the comments section—make sure you check it out!
–We talked about one of my favorite current trends—oversized statement art—with lots and lots of gorgeous pictures.
From the Archives:
I thought it would be fun to look at Augusts past, so here are a favorite posts from August 2014, 2013 and 2012.
August 2014:
-Still one of my favorite DIY projects to date, I shared a tutorial on how to paint a concrete rug on your porch. It is so simple and so cute—definitely want to do another here at this house!
-We took an anniversary road trip to Fredericksburg, TX to the Texas wine country. It was a beautiful, romantic setting with lots and lots of wine. In other words, pretty ideal. 😛
August 2013:
-Another vacation! Apparently August is the month we like to travel in. In 2013, we went to Mexico to an all-inclusive resort with my family and had an AMAZING time.
August 2012:
-Aww. We introduced you to Gray Gables, aka the house we just moved out of.
-Then we demo-ed the kitchen, living room and dining room the very next day with the help of my parents. Little did we know it would take us three solid years of hard work to put the entire house back together.
I’m so excited to see what September brings. How about you guys? How did August treat you?
