Our Secret House Flip—Before & After Pics

This flip house went from drab to fab! From foundation to roof, every bit of this house was remodeled and flipped—the after pictures are so much better!

I’ve been keeping a secret from you all—a pretty big one! Since we sold our last house and while moving into our new house, we flipped (and have now sold) another house. Whaaaat? We are crazy, I know.

To give a bit of a backstory, we’ve owned this home for six years. In mid 2009, Scott and I were engaged and planning our wedding and pretty set on moving into an apartment until we found out the government was offering $8,000 cash to any first-time homebuyers to help stimulate the economy. So, to help pay for our honeymoon, we bought a house. Haha! How crazy is that? We had a tiny budget and finally found a teeny, tiny house that we could afford.

After three lovely years there, the real estate bug hit. We wanted to flip a home. We decided to rent out our first home and we moved to Dallas to the new house—the craziest adventure of our life.

While we were in the process of selling the Dallas house and buying our new (current!) house, we learned our tenants needed to move out. The house needed some work due to a foundation repair that caused plumbing damage, causing the floor to have to be ripped up…eek.

Every wall was re-textured and painted, the flooring was all changed, the outside was painted, the countertops replaced, the deck stained. It was really redone from top to bottom.

Scott listed this house for us and did a great job. Within 24 hours of the listing going up we had multiple offers and sold the house for over list price. We feel so lucky and blessed! We aren’t planning on doing anything exciting or glamorous with the money we made—we’ll be putting all of it (minus a bit for a fun splurge we each get to choose!) directly into savings. 🙂 So responsible!

And now, I think I will take a 3-year long nap. All this buying and flipping and selling over the past 3 months has been crazy! But so worth it! 🙂

      1. I get that you are flipping houses for profit but I don’t agree a lot of the choices in these posts. I wouldn’t buy a house with IKEA kitchen cabinets and pay more. I wouldn’t leave baseboards. I’d remove the baseboards completely and put thicker high end wood. I hate just painting over original built-ins. I’d expect new, well built with high end wood built-ins. Not trying to be harsh as your goal would be different as you are just flipping.

  1. So exciting!! What a fun secret to keep. You guys are awesome at the buying/flipping/selling. Are you ready for a show on HGTV? 🙂

    1. I’d really like to know too! Specifically the color of the long narrow hallway? I’m about to paint my bedroom and that color looks perfect!
