Dallas Farmer’s Market

If I haven’t mentioned it a million times before, Spring is my favorite season. Life gets into rhythms and flows and one of the sure ways to know it’s spring around the Griffis household is we start up our trips to the Dallas Farmer’s Market once again.  Today was the perfect day for it- it was a beautiful 75 degrees with the sun shining down – we took off in our car with the new One Republic cd blaring and the sunroof down- life is good!  With our cash in hand and our minds set on fresh, delicious produce- we totally conquered this day. 🙂

Nestled near the heart of downtown Dallas- the Farmer’s Market is one of my favorite places to go.  Not only is there an awesome produce selection but you can also find herbs, flowers, homemade goods, smoked meats, farm fresh eggs, natural honey, nuts, wine, organic meat and so much more.  I love this place for several reasons but one of my favorites is I feel great meeting the farmers/suppliers and supporting a small family business.

Of course we had to stop and get the Metroplex Famous Paul’s Sweet Roasted Corn. It really is a taste of Heaven 😛

We had such a lovely time together- we gave each other a mini photoshoot like so:

I was so happy to be wearing my Fedora once again- sign of warm weather for sure! Also- my parents got me these earrings- aren’t they gorgeous? 🙂 And speaking of gorgeous look at my man.  Phew! 😛

Everything at the Farmer’s Market is so beautiful.  I was so impressed by the Lord’s handiwork- look how gorgeous the natural colors of produce are!!

It was hard to narrow it down, but in the end we took home grapefruit, baby cucumbers (my absolute fav!!), lemons, strawberries, eggs, lettuce, corn, garlic and walnuts.  YUM. We also took home some gorgeous flowers from a seller named Juan who was the best salesman I’ve ever met.  He was about 10 years old, by the way. 🙂

When we got home, we decided to have a farm-to-table-feast and make a delicious al fresco meal in the backyard.  It was so lovely.

On the menu was marinated pork, white wine (and a few beers), a strawberry-walnut salad, roasted corn (yes- we had it two meals in a row, don’t judge :P) with homemade rosemary butter and fresh shaved parmesan cheese, cucumbers marinated in lemon juice and pepper and the best conversation ever.

I am so in love with this man- I feel like my heart could burst.  I am so happy- and so grateful.  Life is so good.  Thank you Lord!

This was pretty close to my perfect Sunday.  🙂 What would be yours?

Love,

Tania
