Our New Dining Room

So excited to share our new dining room with you all today! This was one of the very first rooms we tackled when we moved in. Like every other room in our house, it had yellow walls and was kind of blah overall…well no longer!

There are so many elements of this room that I love. The first decision I made was to purchase this amazing 8-foot custom wood table from a local builder, Ross Rustic. I had been daydreaming about an heirloom table of my own as we had been using a rotation of borrowed tables the last six years! I knew I wanted something unique and solid that would last through many, many dinner parties and that would have a ton of natural character. As you can see, they totally hit my wish list! Look at those legs…! 🙂

I went with a dark wood stain on top and white legs. I went back and forth on it forever, but went with my gut in the end and I’m so glad I did! I also decided at the last minute to get a bench to go with it. I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about it, but the bench is my FAVORITE place in the room to sit! 🙂

Lighting was another challenge for this room. Since this room was originally a traditional, lamp-lit formal living room, we had to add lighting on our own. I knew I wanted to do two pendants to cover the 8-foot table, but wasn’t sure what I wanted that to look like until we took a weekend trip to Austin and I fell in LOVE with these amazing woven pendant lights at Jo’s Coffee (sooooo delish). I was so smitten with them and took a million pictures and told Scott I knew I wanted them in our dining room.

As fate would have it, I was at a Crate & Barrel a few days later and found the pendants! They were selling the Pacifica Pendant floor models at half off. I snatched them up so fast! 🙂 In fact, these were my first purchase for the house! I was worried they wouldn’t light the room enough but they are a perfect mood light. If we want it a little brighter, we just turn on the lights on the adjoining rooms. 🙂 Easy! Sadly these gorgeous lights are no longer sold, but linking to a similar look below. 🙂

Of course the yellow walls were a problem, so we painted. Is anyone surprised we went with white? I promise you, there’s (so far) at least one room in our house that isn’t, but I’m loving white so much lately!

I love the view from our dining room into our living room. So much eye candy in one spot. 🙂 We’ve definitely moved from eating the majority of our meals on the couch to using our table just because it’s so pretty! 🙂 Also…I spy our MINT painted piano in the background! 🙂 Much improved view from before no?
