Coral Spray Paint—it Totally Exists.

Have you all ever looked through Pinterest or magazines and seen these amazing furniture pieces in fantastic colors that people are like, “oh yeah, I just spray painted it!” I always want to reach through and grab them and yell, “tell me where you found that fabulous spray paint color!!” No longer. I’ve found the motherload of spray paint colors, right here in Dallas, Texas. But first, let me show you what the project was.

I found it when I met up with my friend Brynne for breakfast and thrifting last weekend. This little stool had caught my eye earlier but I wasn’t sure what I’d do with it until I remembered I have a vanity in our master that is chairless. It looked like it might fit, and chairs were half off that day so I decided to go for it and take a $8 risk—if it didn’t fit it could aways be a side table or plant stand or something.

I knew that I wanted it to be coral though. Like really, really badly wanted coral. The problem was I had looked for coral spray paint before and hadn’t found any, and I was feeling too impatient to order it and have to wait. Luckily after doing some research I heard about this incredible line of spray paints that had really cool colors and I could find them in two local stores—a cigaraette and puff store and a skater store.

So maybe these spray paints are meant for graffiti. But the nice gentleman at the store I went to (I totally went with the skater store which is called Rec Shop off Greenville Ave) assured me it would work just fine for furniture too. 😉 Check out these colors!

The spray paint I chose for this project is from the brand Dope and the color is “reddish”.

And I love it. 🙂 It was about $6 per can. The coverage was awesome but it smelled like super strong nail polish, so watch out! It took me about 10 minutes to spray paint this piece. Easy!

And here it is all pretty in our house after it dried. Can you tell how glossy the coverage is? It’s really beautiful.coral spray paint_0005

And you know what? IT FIT.

Like perfectly.

Like I have to turn it a certain way or it won’t fit, but whatever, it fits. And I LOVE the color.

I really love how the coral stool plays off the coral accents in our bedding. Now I need some drawer pulls! coral spray paint_0009 coral spray paint_0010

And, in case you are wondering…it’s totally mini-Aussie approved. Although they showed it differently—actually a bit of a roal reversal for them today! 😛

So do you all think I’m super cool now going into a skate shop and being like “yo, yo, yo! Sell me some coral paint!”. Hehe. That’s not what happened…probably for the best right? 🙂 Now my eyes are opened to the world of graffiti supplies to paint furniture with!  YAY.

  1. The coral is a great color! I’ve only spray painted one piece of furniture–turquoise. I do think it’s fun to have little pieces of accent furniture in bright colors.
