Easy DIY Gold Letters

I love the look of vintage metal letters and I am particularly into a rustic gold finish right now.  This was the easiest thing ever to do but I love how they turned out so much that I wanted to share!

I had picked up these cardboard letters from JoAnns several months ago- they were $1.99 each on sale.  Originally I had thought about painting them neon pink- but I never went through with it- and I’m glad!

I happened to come across this spray paint at Home Depot from Rustoleum- which I am super partial to because I own their spray paint trigger and it saved me from carpal tunnel several times. 😛

I did one medium coat and let it sit for about 60 seconds- it looked like this-

After a minute or so I took a paper towel and began dabbing away at the paint- the goal was to get the cardboard brown to show just slightly underneath the gold finish, creating a rustic finish, like so-

I love it! It promptly got added to the glory of our living room- our rustic floating mantle.  Hooray!
